What Personal Information Does Connetmi Collect From Children?

We offer some services intended for children, and in some cases, we may know a child is using our services (for example, when using a child profile). In these situations, children may share and we may collect personal information that requires verifiable parental consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (collectively, "Child Personal Information"). Child Personal Information could include, for example, name, birthdate, contact information (including phone numbers and Email addresses), voice, photos, videos, location, and certain activity and device information and identifiers (such as cookies, device serial numbers, and IP addresses).

How Does Connetmi Use Child Personal Information?

If you have not given us permission to collect Child Personal Information, we may make available certain voice services intended for children and we may process your child’s voice recordings to provide these services, but we will not store those voice recordings. Before using any third-party service, you should review the applicable terms and policies to determine their appropriateness for your child, including the service’s data collection and use practice.

Choose a Strong Password

To protect your password, it's important to change it periodically and keep your password private, since anybody who knows your password may access your account. We recommend changing your password every 30-60 days. To choose a strong password:
  1. Use a different password on Connetmi that you use on other sites. If you need help remembering your password, consider using a password manager.
  2. Use at least 8 characters. A minimum of 6 is required; a maximum of 128 is allowed. While not required, adding numbers or special characters to your password will make it even stronger. For example, the password "flowing2!%" is a much stronger password than "flows."
  3. Choose an original password. Passwords previously used for your account will not be accepted by the system.
  4. Do not use the same password that you use on other sites, including your email provider. Actively monitor all your accounts, including your email provider, for unauthorized or suspicious activity.
  5. Avoid passwords that are easy to guess. These include passwords such as "secret," "password," "Connetmi," or "123456." They also include things like a dictionary word, your name, email address, or other personal information that can easily be obtained.
  6. If you already have a Connetmi account, for enhanced security, please add or update it with a mobile phone number.
  7. If you receive a verification code from Connetmi, do NOT share it with anyone. Connetmi will NOT contact you and ask for your verification code. Note: Passwords are case sensitive. For instance, "FLOWING2!%" and "Flowss2!%" are two different passwords. When choosing a password, remember the capitalization you use, and make sure that the CAPS LOCK key on your keyboard is not turned on.

Protect Your System

Some suspicious emails contain attachments and links to websites that try to install malicious software on your computer. Here are some ways to protect your system, devices, and wireless network:
  1. If you've entered your password on what you think might be a malicious website, go to Forgot Your Password and change it immediately.
  2. If you've entered your Visa or credit card information on what you think might be a malicious website or replied to an email with that information, immediately contact your credit card company. Note: Don't forget to update the card on Connetmi.com afterward.
  3. Install antivirus or anti-malware software from a reputable company. Keep security software up-to-date by installing updates and patches as soon as they are available. Note: After it's installed, run a full scan of your computer.
  4. Do not install software that you do not need or that comes from unverified sources.
  5. Ignore urgent pop-ups that tell you your devices are infected with a virus and that you must click a link to fix the problem.
  6. Do not leave your devices unattended in public places.
  7. Select the option to manually, not automatically, connecting to WiFi.
  8. Disable hotspots when not needed.
  9. Change the name of your wireless network and any pre-set passwords provided by the vendor, even if the name and password seem complex.

About Two-Step Verification

Two-Step Verification adds an additional layer of security to your account. Instead of simply entering your password, Two-Step Verification requires you to enter a unique security code in addition to your password during sign-in. After you enter your sign-in information, you may be prompted to enter a security code. You can receive this security code in a variety of ways depending on the option you select during sign-up, including text message, voice call, or authenticator.

We use cookies to remember your preferences, so you will not be asked to enter a security code upon each sign-in. If you clear your cookies or use a different browser or device, you may be asked again for verification. If you need help from Customer Service after enabling Two-Step Verification, you'll need to provide a security code similar to when trying to sign in to your account.

About Multi-Factor Authentication

Connetmi cares about your privacy and security. To make sure only you and authorized users have access to your Connetmi account, we may ask you to complete an extra step when you sign in. “Multi-factor authentication” happens when your sign-in activity looks different because you’ve cleared your cookies, or you’re signing in from a new browser, device, or location. There are a few ways you may be asked to confirm your sign-in:
  1. Enter a six-digit verification passcode that we send to the email address or mobile phone number you have on file with Connetmi
  2. Answer a security question about your account
All of these steps will take place on the website. We may ask you to verify your identity if you call Customer Service for support, but Connetmi will never contact you first to ask you for your password, verification passcodes, or security question.

If you’ve received a one-time passcode or sign-in notification that you didn’t request, someone else may have access to your password. You should Reset Your Account Password immediately. You should also check your other online accounts, like your email account, for suspicious activity, and make sure to choose a strong and unique password for every one of your online accounts.

If you are not able to sign in to Connetmi because you don’t have access to the email, mobile phone, or other devices that we’ve asked you to use to confirm your sign-in, contact Customer Service for help restoring access.
